Helping Students in Trade Careers
Hello. I’m Stefan Benson. My son, Zac, and I are Webster High School graduates. Deb and I returned to this area from the Twin Cities to raise our family. To encourage and support area seniors considering a career in the trades, Benson Ace Hardware is proud and happy to offer Benson ACE Helpful Place Scholarships, an annual program for Webster and Frederic high school seniors.
Each year, Benson Ace makes $500 scholarships available to two Webster seniors and two Frederic seniors. (Our first scholarship recipients came from the Class of 2020.)
- Eligibility Requirements: Grade point average 2.5 or higher, and plans to attend a technical/trade school, or work as an intern/apprentice with an employer in trades like HVAC, plumbing, electrical, engine/auto repair, welding, or construction.
- Interested seniors can obtain a one-page application in the schools’ counseling offices, or by clicking the application link here.
- Applications are due during April of each school year.
Benson Ace Hardware awards the scholarships by drawing names from completed applications. We decided to draw names because we believe success is possible for anyone with hard work and a can-do attitude, along with some prayerful thought and a little bit of luck.
Recipients are recognized during the schools’ annual awards night events held during May. Scholarship checks are issued to recipients following 90 days of confirmed technical/trade school attendance, or 90 days of confirmed employment as an intern or apprentice.
Class of 2025 Benson Ace Helpful Place Scholarship applications are due April 5, 2025.
Applications available in Webster and Frederic school counseling offices. Or download an application here.
