The Benson Ace team is happy to announce that our Webster location is now under the very competent ownership of our long-time employee, Matt Stanley, and his wife, Tammi.

Deb and I extend our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful friends, loyal customers, and hardworking employees who have helped the Webster store thrive and grow during the last 20-plus years. We purchased the business as part of a plan to return to my hometown, from the Twin Cities, to raise our family.
It’s been a wonderful, growth-filled experience on many levels. So, we are happy to report that the Benson retail brand continues in this area with Benson Ace Hardware and Benson POWER, which we still own and operate in Frederic.
Deb and I are thrilled to pass the Ace Hardware torch in Webster to Matt and Tammi, who have been integral members of the Benson team for many years. Matt and Tammi are both incredibly dedicated to and enthusiastic about the business. We look forward to watching them, and their son, Barrett, continue the store’s commitment to serving Webster and the surrounding communities.
Matt’s solid hardware knowledge and his family’s ties to Webster continue a Main Street hardware tradition built on small-town values and customer service that began several decades ago. Bob and Flo Swanson launched the Webster location as Gambles Hardware in 1967. Deb and I purchased the store from Bruce and Lois Rypkema in 2002, a few years after it became Ace Hardware.
We opened our Frederic hardware store in 2015 when we purchased the former sporting goods building on Highway 35. Our son, Zac, was involved in every aspect of opening the new Benson Ace location and, as general manager, promoted the expansion into additional outdoor power equipment brands like STIHL, Cub Cadet, and Bad Boy Mowers, as well as Intimidator 4×4 utility vehicles.
In 2022, we launched Benson POWER in Frederic. Zac and his team at the dealership work next door to Benson Ace and offer UTVs, ATVs, electric motorbikes, Makita cordless equipment and tools, zero-turn mowers, lawn tractors, and snow blowers.

Owners Stefan and Deb Benson, with son and general manager Zac, began the Benson Ace Helpful Place Scholarships program in 2020 for Webster and Frederic high school seniors pursuing skilled trade careers. Benson Ace offers four $500 scholarships each year.
Get the one-page application here, or from Webster/Frederic school counselors. Eligible seniors have a minimum 2.5 GPA and will enroll in a technical school program or work as skilled trade intern/apprentice in a field like HVAC, plumbing, electrical, engine/auto repair, welding, or construction.
